Distributed Solutions Company Profile
Distributed Solutions, Inc. (DSI) was founded in 1992
with a mission to develop software tools to address the need of
acquisition professional to keep current with rapidly evolving
trends and changes in acquisition practices, document content and
regulatory mandates. DSI divided acquisition needs into three areas,
tracking, document generation, and research, and developed three
tools, ProTrac, ProDoc, and
RegSearch, to address each area.
Together these products combine to deliver a complete electronic solution called the Automated Acquisition
Management System (AAMS). They can also be configured to form
companion solutions in similar areas such as Grants and Program/Funds
Management.
Traditional Approaches Fall Short
In addressing the needs of the acquisition professional, DSI
realized that traditional software development methodologies and
sales concepts fall short in delivering real and immediate value to
the contracting, program and finance offices. Waterfall-based methods that rely on rigid
and time-consuming processes simply cannot keep pace with the scope
and variety of political and regulatory change evident in the
acquisition management profession. The nature of monolithic software purchases
and traditional information-technology-consulting-style development
cycles mandate that the client will receive too little, too late,
for too much investment.
Our Knowledge-Base-Driven Approach
To address these issues, DSI adopted a philosophy of
knowledge-base-driven software and subscription-based updates and
services. Knowledge-base-driven software is premised on the design
of software that is 80% plus driven by the data definitions and
rules contained in a knowledge base. Change is managed by internal
DSI knowledge-base-administration systems which are run by subject
matter experts familiar with the federal acquisition process and its
requirements. Updated knowledge base elements are delivered as data
to clients on a routine basis and contain the latest regulatory
content and interpretations as well as client-specific change and
additions.
DSI's knowledge base approach offers our clients the ability to
implement core solutions quickly in order to gain immediate
benefits, and then adopt an iterative approach to agency-specific
configuration and enhancement appropriate to available staff,
abilities, and budgets.
Software By Subscription
DSI's regulatory subscriptions ensure that regulatory currency is
pushed routinely to the client and that system users within an
agency are presented with the latest policy, procedural and data
collection guidance. DSI also provides a software subscription which ensures
that the software tools are current with the latest technological
advances, new product features, and key
e-Government (e-Gov) initiatives such as the Integrated Acquisition
Environment.
